Yes, but it is important to keep the bench within a stable indoor climate. Wood is a hygroscopic material, which means it absorbs and releases moisture depending on the surrounding air. As humidity changes, wood will naturally expand or contract.

To prevent swelling, shrinking, gaps between boards or slight cupping, the workbench should be kept in a room where the relative humidity (RH) stays between 40–55% year-round. If RH falls below 40%, add moisture to the room. If it rises above 55%, dehumidification is needed. A hygrometer can help you monitor the climate, and both humidifiers and dehumidifiers are available from most hardware stores.

Keeping the bench in a dry, ventilated workshop with controlled humidity ensures long-term stability and performance — and is also the indoor climate humans feel most comfortable in.
